Looking for a new Truck.
Ok im looking for a truck and I just cant make up my mind. I was thinking of a 67-72 c10. But as far back as I can remember I have been wanting a older C10 but i have to have one thing it must have this hood but I dont know if it was an option or a what made it have this hood so if some one could give me some help that would be great. I just love the looks of this hood.
Thanks

Re: Looking for a new Truck.
Yes same hood for 60-61, except the inserts are different for 1960. And these hoods will bolt on to any 60-66 pickup or suburban if desired.
Here's a 1960 hood from Google Images for comparison: Last edited by markeb01; 11-22-2011 at 12:00 AM. |

Re: Looking for a new Truck.
have to admit I am a big fan of those hoods too, but then again, I like the 62-66's as well. It's a sickness. Having said that - here's an observation (of mine...) I think a forward fit of the old does not look as good as a rearward fit of the new. i.e. like Markeb01 did - I think the new hoods look great on the 60-61's. But for some reason, something about the old hoods on a new truck doesn't seem quite right - which is odd because I really like the bugeye hood. Weird. I have only seen a few of the forward fits. I think basicially, I like the 62-66 hoods any all 60-66's, but on the 60-61, I also like the stock bugeye very much. All personal pref, and I pretty much like them all anyway.

Re: Looking for a new Truck.
correct
from the factory, yes, but as soon as the 62 hoods were released these were discontinued, and if you needed a replacement for your 60-61 you had to buy the newer hood. the 60-61 hood will fit all 60-66 chev/gmc, I put one on my 65 , all I needed to do was a little bit of latch adjustment.

Re: Looking for a new Truck.
69C20CUSTOM ,
To answer the Question .. So does every 60-61 c10 have this hood ??? When new Yes the 60-61 Chevys had this hood .. But now 50 years later there are still some with the Hoods and others with the 62-66 Hoods on them .. Good Luck in your search !!! Just remember that rust , damage , owner preference , etc . all play into the factor as to do they have it or not ... |

Re: Looking for a new Truck.
About the first picture posted, the hood is the 1961 model and the grill is the 1960 model. I happen to be a big fan of the 1961 hood and grill. One day I will own one. Until then, I have to satisfy my lust by looking at pictures on the internet.
Thanks for all of the wonderful pictures everyone! Keith |
