Question Stereo install question...am I missing some brackets here?

When I picked up my 90 Suburban it had no stereo, so I wanted to put a CD player in the factory location. I have all of my wiring done (previous owner cut the factory harness out, too) and picked up a Scosche GM1504 installation kit, but for the life of me I can't figure out how it's supposed to mount. I have installed stereos in everything under the sun and am fairly mechanically inclined, but I think this truck must be missing some brackets that I am supposed to have or something. The kit fits the hole in the dash great, but there is just no way for me to see to mount it. And as a universal kit, the instructions for each application are vague at best. I snapped a couple of pictures; if anything glaring is missing, I'd sure appreciate a heads up. It won't be too difficult to fab something completely from scratch, but if I can save myself the effort that'd be great. Ideas??

Re: Stereo install question...am I missing some brackets here?

My kit is a Scosche GM1504W. I think that on the factory radio there were some brackets that allowed it to be mounted in the dash hole and that those brackets are intended to be transferred to the new dash kit so it fills the whole hole. I just went ahead and bent up some thin sheet metal and made my own brackets. I have to wait till I get a short antenna extension to finish the installation, but everything looks like it will work out just great. For now there are just some pilot holes drilled in the two pieces I bent up, but that's what will mount to the dash (two on the bottom, one on the top/right).

looks fine to me. You could build a bracket that goes to the back of the stereo to help hold the weight. I would recommend doing that.

I may end up doing that. This particular head unit that I am using now (had one laying around until I decide which one I want in here) doesn't have the stud on the back of it for that mount, but I can come up with some way to "cradle" it I'm sure.
