Does this look right to you??

Ok so I just installed my ECE rear shock locators and for some reason it appears that the bottom bolt is not in line with the bottom of the shock mount. Nothing appears to be bent or broken so is this normal or do I have a defective bottom bracket? I thought maybe when they welded the bottom together maybe they welded it crooked but it looks straight. Anyone else run into this problem?

Re: Does this look right to you??

Did you install the upper mounts too? If your using the original shock mounts for the top this can cause it. Also there should be a spacer between the shock and the the shock mount.

Yes I installed the upper mounts also. The kit had no hardware, got it from a friend and he lost the hardware, so I just used the old hardware.

These pics are WITH the metal sleeve inside the rubber bushings. I am just wondering if there should be a metal spacer that goes in between the bottom shock mount and the lower plate.

Re: Does this look right to you??

I have the same issue, decided to swap the lowers side to side and move the shocks to the outside of the frame anyway. Be interesting to see who else had/has this problem and the remedy.

Re: Does this look right to you??

No I dont, camera crapped. I just built a mount off the frame similar to some 4X shock mounts and its out side the frame at an angle dont remember the angle maybe 30* forward and the lower brackets just swap side to side and the angle is correct, cant confirm if they clear the bags tho got over an inch and a half clearance so I hope if now back to the drawing board !.

Mine also have a concaved washer on the inside and outside of the shock to keep the bushing for popping out

Hey dmwphoto it appears that there is a spacer between the shock and the mount. I wonder if that is the key?

Stan, and the other guys at ECE, are very helpful if you just ask. They have a toll-free number, so give 'em a call.

That's funny you say that I have several front upper shock bolts kits that are still brand new and I tried to use one but the hole in the bracket was to small. I guess I could drill the hole in the bracket bigger but I just thought that I shouldn't have to do that.

Re: Does this look right to you??

EDIT:
Just re-read your post about lost hardware.
This is the old style they use to use,...
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Shock-...DisplayId=5366

Buy the correct hardware from Speedway Motors and be done.
Or check out you local auto parts store.

I assume you are using drop rear shocks also?

Re: Does this look right to you??

Hey lolife that kit from speedway motors looks like it might work. I tried using a bolt and a large nut as a spacer in between the shock and the relocators and it helped a little but it still is at a pretty bad angle. I wish I could post pics from my phone. I will post some pics tomorrow when I get to work.
