Last night I jump in the old '65 c10 to head off to work. I turn the headlight switch knob and the dome light didn't come on. So I turned it off/on in case it got hung up as it was chilly out, nope.

Popped off the dome light cover, pulled the bulb and from the glow of the headlights, it looked kinda burnt. OK, no biggie I'll fix it in the light tomorrow(today)... so I go to snap the bulb back in... and the original 1965 plastic dome light assembly crumbled into a bunch of pieces in the back!

It musta been faulty construction!

haha!

Anyways, ordered a new base model dome light assembly and a fancy 'clear' lens this morning.

That's my edition of 'old trucks are fun' for this week.

If you ordered the clear lens from LMC you won't be sorry. They put out about 10 times as much light as the original lens, just using the stock bulb. I have one in my truck and love it at night. In spite of having an all black cab, it lights everything up well enough to see what you're doing, something the stock lens never did.

markeb01 - that is where I bought it, as they are the only ones with that clear lens as far as I know. I had been pondering buying one the next time I had an order for them.

When I first read about that clear lens, I popped the cover off of mine at night and turn it on and the cab LIT UP. I was like... yeah, gonna have to get one of those.

I still can't get my dome light to work!! Got the whole new assembly connected the orange and brown wires and nothing?

Are you aware they work “backwards”? There should be 12v power all the time at the lamp. The ground side of the circuit is controlled through the rheostat on the light switch.
