3" drop spindles in relation to the scrub line

I have a 66 C10 with a 84 3/4 ton LCA. I want to run a 3" drop spindle, will this combo put the LCA below the scrub line with 15" rims? If so, what size rim would be needed so it isn't as an issue?

Thanks for any help.

Re: 3" drop spindles in relation to the scrub line

Not sure but some local/state ordinances describe scrub line as an imaginary line from the bottom of the rim on one side to the bottom of the inflated tire on the other (measured with the truck on flat ground). The reasoning being that in most cases only one tire will blow. If you are comfortable with this description then I think that 3" drop spindles would not put the lca below the scrub line with a 15" tire, although tire profile will have an effect on this too.

I suppose if you have the truck on its wheels/tires right now then you could pull a string as described above and see if it clears the lca by more than 3".

It will be close, but should clear, depending on how much drop spring you use. The ballpoint area will be inside the edge of the rim, but barely- you may have issues with clearance there, depending on back spacing of the wheel...

I wish it was sitting on wheels, it is just a frame right now. Still working on it.

I plan on having 3" springs as well, if I go with 16" rims that should clear up any "maybes", right?

He is correct. Before you decide on a rim size make sure the tire size you want is available and/or affordable. I have found that 17's and 20's have the best size and price ratio.
