2006 Harness?

Would a 2006 6.0 engine harness work on a 2003 5.3 engine? I have a complete 5.3l with everything included, except whoever pulled out the harness cut the computer connector off. Would there be any compatability issues?

Thank you,

Kevin C

Re: 2006 Harness?

I"m buying a 2006 6.0 and could use the harness you have... Just so happens I have a harness and computer from a 2002 5.3. Want to make a swap? Your harness is setup for the 4l80 and mine is setup for the 4l60...

Re: 2006 Harness?

If you have the harness and the engine there, i know for sure that the stock oil pressure sensor connector will be different between the two. But i think all the others are the same. Just check for all the plugs and the pins in them to match what you have on the engine and you should be good. The harness should have DBW, so make sure the harness is DBW and not DBC. Then get an ecm with the green and blue connectors.

Re: 2006 Harness?

Kevin, you would be better served using the 5.3 harness that Havingsomefun is offering. Especially if your going with the 4L60e and 5.3 combo. The trans plugs are different and there would be a couple sensor placement that will be different. However you would need to go DBC if you dont already have DBC, since the 03 is the bastard year for DBW/DBC.

Good luck with whatever you do

I'm planning to do just that. I totally forgot about the DBW/DBC. The 5.3 is DBC. The harness is still in the truck and they still need to take it out. I expressed how important it was to NOT CUT ANYTHING. Hopefully he does.

Thank you,
Kevin C

So the 6.0 truck is DBW? If it is, make sure you get the gas pedal and tac module... Please.

Re: 2006 Harness?

lt1swap.com says DBW was found on all corvettes in 1997, some higher end SUV's around 2001 started getting DBW. In 2003 all pickup trucks got DBW. In 2004 the Express Van got DBW.

Re: 2006 Harness?

i have both and DBC harness from a 2000'ish truck and an '05 harness and they're pretty similar except for the oil pressure sender, the DBW/DBC hookups, and thats all i can think of off the top of my head. I'll look again when i get home tonight and tell you for sure if there are any other differences.

Re: 2006 Harness?

Where is the TAC module located and what does it look like?

Re: 2006 Harness?

The TAC module is located on the driver's side firewall. Small black box with two plugs coming out of the same side. One plug goes to your ECM and the other goes to your pedal through the firewall.

Re: 2006 Harness?

Checked my harness tonight. The plugs i stated earlier to be different between the two harnesses are definitely different and it looks like the o2 sensor plugs are also different.

Re: 2006 Harness?

Spoke with the guy who has the 2006 harness. I asked about the TAC Module and Gas pedal. He said it would be an extra $200 to get both. Is that price within reason or is it high?

Thank you,
Kevin C

Re: 2006 Harness?

Considering I paid $40 shipped for my TAC, it sounds high. Have you tried car-part.com?

Re: 2006 Harness?

I looked at online pricing and he is WAY high on the pricing. Brand new A/C Delco parts would be a hair more than $200. I'll just grab the harness and go elsewhere for the TAC and pedal.

Thanks,
Kevin

Re: 2006 Harness?

i paid $140 for my TAC and pedal. But i'm not sure if its compatible yet. I've been told you need to keep the years the same between the TAC, Pedal and throttle body. Whcih is where i messed up. I know the TAC and pedal is '03 and my throttle body is an '05. I wish they had a list of compatible S/N's for throttle bodies to TAC/pedal setups.

Re: 2006 Harness?

Its a small company that I purchased the seats from. They buy cars and trucks to fix them up and sell. What they can't fix or is too far beyond repair, they dismantle and sell off. They're in Midlothian. I don't know what the name of the place it called though.
