Engine Code Help

Trying to determine what year 350 I have in my 66. Here are the #'s I have:

K09 13 CMR
K = Engine Plant St. Catherines, Ontario
0913 = Sep. 13
CMR =
1978 350 m/t L82 4sp 220HP 4 bolt main (Corvette-Z/28)
or
1974 350 a/t 145hp (A body)

Here is the # on the block: 3970010 = 69-79 350
Here is the Intake #: Intake: 346250 GM 305/350------- 76-82------- 4-Brl Quadrajet flange

Now...how do I find out if I have the 74 or 78 350? Are there other #'s I can try to find and reference?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Engine Code Help

There should be another set of numbers on the block. There is a flat tab near the passenger side of the water pump. I think those numbers are more helpful. They are stamped into the boss there, not cast.

That is how I found out I had a 305 instead of the 350 the PO told me it was.

Re: Engine Code Help

It looks like there are 3 options you have.

CMR 1974 350 tur hydro trans. - 145 2 A
CMR 1978 350 m/t L82 4 220 4 Vette/Z-28
CMR 1980 305 auto trans. H LG4 155 4 full size

Here is the link where I found that.

Re: Engine Code Help

Have you had the pan off to see if its a 4 bolt or 2 bolt? I dont know if there is a way externally to know that.

Re: Engine Code Help

Brad, you need the date code off the block. It is in the same place that you found the casting number only it's on the passenger side of the belhousing flange.
