front bag questions?????
Hi there all,
ok here is the deal, I just finished my bags, i am currently running 17's, I have 20's ready to install. but last night I finished my complete bag set up, question #1 is i am using slam specialties rs72's at all 4 corners. i have a bolt in c-notch from ccp and an adjustable panhard bar. in the front i have brackets from KP components, they consist of a bag cup (bottom) and a plate for the top. I also installed McGauhey 2.5" drop spindles. but it doesn't lay our worth a damn. I had altered front springs and no drop spindles and it was almost the same. what did I do or can I do to this to change altitude. can i alter the cups? i need at least an in or so, the dang thing will raise up 9 inches total but only drops a small amount from before. please help. I am considerning cutting the cups in half???? |

On some of the setups i have done we have ran with no cups or a really short one. But that is with firestone bags. Lotik modified his lower control arm to fit the RS72 in his lower arm. My 68 layed out on 17 no problem. Crossmember rest on the gound. Do you have your sway bar on. Take that off that might drop it too. Bill Turner make a lower tubuar control arm that will get your front down at least another 1.5". It moves up the mounting point and mounts the bag in the bottom of the arm. I am doing this with a crossmember drop and i should just about lay body. Do you have your wheelwells in still.

I will get a few pics tonight. As far as the install goes it is not too easy. You have to make a few cuts into the front member. These arms are best for a person doing a frame off as the lower arm is raised into the truck by 1-1.5". The good thing is you will bottom out the x member before the a arms touch the ground.

I finished the bags
Well here it is, Now I need to get my tires mounted on the 20's. I had to end up cutting 1" off the lower cup. this is how it sits now. rides pretty nice also. but my rims hit the a-arms when turning when dropped low. had to modify the arms also. and them damn stock brake lines are way short. I will finish the truck maybe by the next millinium if lucky, but thats why it is my hobbie. Hope you all enjoy the picstures.

Nice! I like the wheels too. Are those the real Budnik's or are they the Eagle Series 212 (what I have)?

The above is a pic of turners upper, lower arms and x member. I have these parts and am about to start the install. Notice how the lower arms mount 1-1.5" farther into the crossmember plus the notch in the member itself. This along with some drop spindles will set your front end on the ground. However if you want to be really low you can body drop. The member is around $450 and the arms are about $375. Not to mention the time it takes to do this you may be cheaper to body drop. Also with this member you may run into a arm clearance problems if you go with stock arms. Also motor mounts will have to be fabbed up or redesign your factory ones thus an additional cost. Turner does sell the motor mounts needed

Also another advantage to turners arms is that they are longer than factory arms so to create better alignment ability for a lowered truck. Upper only is longer

dropping
I really cant afford air ride and did a drop on mine i used 73-87 3.5 drop spindles, what a mess had to change tie rod ends center link and ball joints i also used a 2 inch drop coil spring as far as the rear goes i just went with a 6 inch coil,im having problems with lower control arm hitting rim too had to shave a little bit from the bottum i had 20s on the truck but with this drop no way having problems with 4.5 back spacing up front,i heard that tubular control arms will help alot i still have a little room to play and was wondering if i could get a dropped 2.5 tubular control arm,and notch the rear frame and add some blocks?so who offers the bolt in c-notch kit?ohhh one more thing how about pumpkin clearance any notching to the bed needed looks like im getting close...any help would be great thanks..guys...Steve.....heres my truck with a 5.5/6 drop and 35s on 17s still have room to go lower
