Power Steering Pump Question

So I replaced my gearbox and pump and my truck rides smooth BUT it is leaking. When I bought the pump there was a green plug on the backside of the pump, that is where it is leaking from... My old pump didn't have any type of screw where the green plug is, am I missing a screw??? Can anyone help me?? Maybe give me the size of the screw and where I can purchase one from?? Other than that the swap went great.

I can't remember your initiall plans. U did have power steering already correct. All u were doing was a replacement. If so, from the gear box there are two lines that go into the pump. One, pressure line, goes exactly in that spot where the green cap was in. The return, soft line goes in the pipe sticking out pf the back of the pump. Did u not have two lines that u removed in the beginning? If u did and still did at the end of the install, where did u plug in the pressure line(the one with the aluminum tip that has a small o ring at the tip. Let me know.

I have the send/return lines hooked up already. But on the backside of the ps pump there is a green plug. The green plug isn't for the send/return because I already have those hooked up.

*on my old ps pump there was a threaded hole where the green cap is pressed into the backside of the new ps pump. And if I'm correct that is where all my ps fluid is leaking from.

I got the ps pump from autozone. It was remanufactured.

Is it possible u can take a pic of where u have the lines connected in the back. Also are the places/spots where the lines are connected side by side, the presurre line right next to the pipe for the soft line?

That's the pump I have, and if you look at the back of the pump where the send/return lines go, there is a bolt where the green plug is. So I guess I need a bolt to cap it off but can you look for me? Please? I need to figure out what size & length bolt need...

What year is ur truck and what size engine. The place u r talking about is the one towards the top in the left hand side correct?

Yes the top left side, there is a bolt screwed into the pump.

On the old one there was no bolt sticking out. But maybe that why it was leaking on my old one...

There is supposed to be a bolt with a stud that should have been removed and transferred to the new one nut if it was not in the old one then ...that bolt is used to attach the back of the pump to the bracket. I will post a pic that shows what I am saying. If ur old one did not have any bolt in that back, is that where it was leaking from. How long had it been leaking, ever since u got it?

I got the new pump two days ago. And I had the truck about 1 month already and the power steering was jacked so I decided to replace everything. And there was no bolt back there. So I'm needing to know how long of a bolt and what size I need...

ok so if you need a bolt to put on there so you can attach the pump to the bracket, my suggestion is (going on the notion that u don’t have the old one any longer) go to autozone and ask if they have the bolt to sell or buy another one and take it with u to a hardware store or a bolt place to use it to find the correct thread size and just buy one about two inches long. it is the one right above the lines.

here is a curve ball to this, it should not be leaking from that hole as it is a hole that is capped as you can see in the pic. go to autozone and ask to look at one and you will see that it is capped and it does not go through open to the inside. unless the manufacturer has a totally different style.

if it is leaking from that hole, then there is a puncture on the cap and you got a bad pump. you will need to replace it. also if you are going to look for a threaded rod to put in there, you also will need a thin nut for it, thin enough that it will fit in the space between the pump and the bracket. the nut is used to used as a stop so that the bolt can be tightened on the pumb before it goes all the way through and makes a hole in the cap of the pump.
