64 4x4 leaf spring question

My father and I picked up his new truck, a 1964 k10. It needs some work but it runs strong but I noticed that one of the leaves is broken on both sides of the front end. So here my question; what springs fit in this truck? Will 73-87 work or are they a different length. Thanks again guys.

64--66 frt. springs are a breed of their own I believe. you can always get some leafs made at a spring shop. but there must be a reason why they are breaking

Re: 64 4x4 leaf spring question

The '73-'87 K series springs are completely different. You could change the truck over to that style, but you would need to change the spring hangers and possibly another thing or two. You would also have to use either a 2.5" or 4" lift spring. I agree that having new leafs made would be the simplest fix

1 plus to changing to a later model spring it is longer so the truck would ride better.

Re: 64 4x4 leaf spring question

When i had my 61 i changed over to 73-87 springs. It rode much nicer. The easiest fix liked metioned above it to get a spring shop to make a new one.
