WHY Are Advanced Design & Task Force the ONLY Ones Lumped Together?

Title says it all. I guess you could ask the same of Pre '47, but that sub forum didn even exist until I posted about my '46.

EVERY other era has its own sub forum, why not these two eras? They are NOT the same - closed drivetrains, five windows, inline sixes vs. V8's available, Cameo's, etc.

Re: WHY Are Advanced Design & Task Force the ONLY Ones Lumped Together?

I'm not exactly complaining, I'm just wondering if some thought went into this; some logic I don't "get"?

Or was it that the board started as '67-'72 only and this was the first "other" forum added? If that's the case I get that, but why weren't divided later?

My ONLY complaint is that I'll read a thread title I'm really interested in, only to find out it doesn't actually apply to MY truck....DOH!

Re: WHY Are Advanced Design & Task Force the ONLY Ones Lumped Together?

Good question.
I dunno but maybe it has to do with traffic. Owing two squares, im on the 73-87 side the most, which seems busier than the 47-59 but not as much as the 67-72.
Guess it all costs money so the more forums the more $$$.
Maybe if i can figure out how to use paypall ill subscribe, if they had an app where morons like me could pay by phone i would have done it by now.

Re: WHY Are Advanced Design & Task Force the ONLY Ones Lumped Together?

I'm sure it has something to do with traffic, and maybe there are not enough posts in one of the catagories to warrant separating them?

the only time it bothers me is when someone says "Will this fit in my truck?" and they forget to talk about what generation of truck they even have.

otherwise, being a BIG fan of the TF trucks, I would be lying if I said because they lump them I have had alot more exposure to the AD trucks than I normally would, in a positive way.

Traffic is the key , Not sure the traffic is enough yet . I will post the thread where all admins can see it . I make no promises but we will discuss it .

I'm probably the only one but I like having them together since I have both.

Re: WHY Are Advanced Design & Task Force the ONLY Ones Lumped Together?

Personally I like it this way because in my opinion building a truck is building a truck. A lot of things still apply to both models. Plus I seen some very good work on a lot of Advanced Design trucks that I may not have seen if they were not in the same section. I don't mind sharing space with my classic truck cousins.lol

Re: WHY Are Advanced Design & Task Force the ONLY Ones Lumped Together?

maybe all the cool guys on this forum own 47-49 trucks

maybe because it's a 67-72chevytrucks forum and it just expanded from there?

maybe to build up the image of the 47-55 guys, by making them read the 55-59 threads

i rarely post in the older truck post, because i don't know the ins and outs of 47-55 trucks.
but i usually read them

Re: WHY Are Advanced Design & Task Force the ONLY Ones Lumped Together?

Completely different trucks, one on an "A" shaped chassis and the other on a parallel ladder type frame.
I'd like to see 'em split, AD or TF guys shouldn't have to wade through the other's stuff to find their own.
I own one of each, too.

Re: WHY Are Advanced Design & Task Force the ONLY Ones Lumped Together?

i like them together, but one could still access the other if they were to divide the forums.
i usually scan most of them once a week or so, and the 47-59 and 73-87 more often from my phone. so one more wouldn't slow me down any....

[QUOTE=Maximus;5184963 The only time it bothers me is when someone says "Will this fit in my truck?" and they forget to talk about what generation of truck they even have. [quote]

I've had to retract more than one answer to a question on this section due to having checked to see what truck the person asking the question has after I answered it.

I'd have to agree that the doubled up models is most likely due to the amount of activity on these two models but we are gaining on them

I like them all as over the past 40 years I've had AD, Task force (57 Panel) 64 GMC, 67,70 Chevs 71 GMC (the driver) and a 73 1ton 4x4 crew cab beast that I wish I would have kept. That is just the ones I drove and doesn't include all of the project trucks that have slipped through my hands.

Re: WHY Are Advanced Design & Task Force the ONLY Ones Lumped Together?

I was wondering this same thing... as a new user/new to Chevy trucks I found it very confused when trying to find things out about my truck. I thought it would have a torque tube because of reading on here, but then I find out that only the Series I had that.

Re: WHY Are Advanced Design & Task Force the ONLY Ones Lumped Together?

Might be from a staffing/manpower issue.
You would need moderators to monitor each forum.
But the volume of traffic might be the real issue.

If one moderator can handle the single with both in it, they should be able to monitor both just as easily...

Re: WHY Are Advanced Design & Task Force the ONLY Ones Lumped Together?

I wonder if the moderators would be wiling to insert a small font sorta footnote that says "AD" or "TF"? That way you'd know what you were opening/reading?

Kabwe, I agree I've found little tips or links by reading AD threads that are applicable to our trucks but I've also gone off on a tangent occasionally.

If your "building a truck is building a truck" statement applies, should there be only ONE forum with all eras in it? I'm actually wondering if that wouldn't be better?...with the little footnote I spoke of above. Cause I like the 60-66 and 67-72 forums, I just don't get there often.

Just in case someone is counting, put me down for two separate forums. The downside of having them together is that now I want a TF too!

Believe it or not there is a forum on another site that is for 1917-1959 Trucks and I wish it was 1917-1970 because I know I missing out on some cool threads.lol

Personally, I don't care what year it is, if you are doing good work I want to see it. If you put wheels and a motor on a shopping cart and it's safe and looks cool I want to see it. Hey that's just me I'm not a fan of just 55-59 Chevy trucks I'm a fan of all classic cars especially American cars and if its built by a person and not a shop even better. I like looking at the home builders stuff, that's what impresses me. The guys that are doing this stuff in their backyard or home shops. I could care less what a shop does, but that's just me. I build at home and I like to see what others are building at home. Its amazing to see what people can do with a lack of tools, equipment, and man power, no matter what year they are building. Just pure dedication and love for the hobby.

So being lump together does not bother because in my mind they are lumped together. That's just the way my mind works. I don't look at a truck and say that's a nice Advanced Design, Task Force, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Studebaker, or whatever I just say "man thats a nice truck". I just like seeing cool stuff and creativity.

we had separate forums for them for 6 years or so. They were dead, so they got combined at the users request.
