1987 chevy r10 350 tbi weird heads ...new guy
hey im new to this sight so if this has already been brought up im sry i really did try and find it anyways on my 87 i changed the head gasket the other day and i got it done which so far seems to be working fine but can anyone tell me why the dividers in the intake ports are not flush with the rest of the heads ? and why these little clips are here instead? i was worried that the gasket would leak when i put the manifold back on but like i said so far its ok heres two pictures one with gasket and clips on like i found it when i pulled the intake off and one with no gaskets or clips o and i picture of my truck just to show it off considering i bought it for 400 hundred running i figured i would show it off

Cool ! I like it. Never saw that before either. Looks like it would work okay though.

That's similar to the way the TBI 4.3's are set up. I have no idea why.

Re: 1987 chevy r10 350 tbi weird heads ...new guy
I've seen those before when my father in-law rebuilt a 350 in a 87 Chevy 4x4 some years back. Come to find out the engine was built in Mexico, and some of them were not built to exact standards as in the U.S. Those shiny spacers filled in the gaps. Needles to say he had a host of other problems with the rebuild than just those crappy heads.

Re: 1987 chevy r10 350 tbi weird heads ...new guy
I've never seen the intake ports on a head designed that way, there is no seperation between the the ports. My question is this: Looking at the first picture there is a definate gap between the ports, are the clips designed to go under the gasket to fill the gap, or are they to be installed as shown in your second picture????
