Air over leaf

I'm looking to try and improve the ride on my '77 dually while still maintaining my towing capacity. My thought is to remove all but three our so leaves out of each spring pack and then add some 5000 pound towing bags. If anyone has done this, or has contemplated it, your thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: Air over leaf

I did this on a lowered dually once. removed springs from the pack and added helper bags for hauling stuff. worked well

Just did that on mine, rides great. I didn't use that big of a bag though, I used firestine 9000 tapered bags

How many leaves did you end up leaving in? I'd like to leave enough in to keep the box off the ground and control spring wrap.

I left three, haven't had a chance to tow anything yet though.
