need help lowering my 57
lowering my 57 3100, going to go with 3" drop ax and 3" springs in front. What will I need to do to level the truck in the back? Any info on tire sizes? Going to need at least a 16" rim to be above the scrub line. Any pics would be great also.

Re: need help lowering my 57
It looks like you may have the front figured out. If you don't have the link Sid http://www.droppedaxles.com/ has a great reputation for doing axles right.
On the rear it will take putting the axle on top of the spring and putting a C notch in the frame so the axle doesn't hit the frame. Then it may or may not take lowering blocks to get it at the height you want. If it is too low after the flip you can re-arch the rear springs to get it right. 16's would look ok but I'm not a fan of anything of a larger diameter on a half ton. Trucks need tire sidewall showing to look right and not rubber bands. |

Re: need help lowering my 57
I was thinking of springs and flip in rear don't like blocks. Whats normal for these trucks to level 6" in the front ?" in the rear. 15" rims i'll be below the scrubline have to go with 16". I have seen the aftermarket drop axles and the worked origs which is better?

Re: need help lowering my 57
This is Chuck Driver's beautiful '57 and it has 16" rims on it. See the link below to his build thread. I friggin LOVE his truck.
Granted it is clipped, not a dropped axle but at least you can see that 16" rims look fine on these trucks. I personally wouldn't go bigger than 17" and would prefer to stay with 15" because I like a little taller side wall on these old trucks but I think you'll be fine with 16's. Awesome job on everything he does! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=334552 |
