Re: Chrome window strip

I just called the local window installers and watched them do it. It took him about 5 mins. Used a fancy tool tho. Didnt have tool and needed him to come back and install the rearview mirron on wifes truck so i had him do the trim when he came back so he made a few bucks.

Re: Chrome window strip

Thanks. I will probably buy the kit before I get a new windshield and have it done at the same time. I may have the right tool to do it, but dont know where it is.

Re: Chrome window strip

If you're having a new windshield installed just let the windshield people supply the gasket and the chrome strip. Just put a windshield in my truck from safelite. the gasket was $35 or $40 and the chrome strip was $15.

And have them supply and replace the one in the back window too.

Just call whatever supplier/installer you want to use and tell them what you want.

Re: Chrome window strip

it looked easy enough, but the shop that painted my truck had a window guy that was pretty cheap..

From what I hear the back window is easy and the front can be a pain... so after watching him drop the front window in about 10 minutes I thought maybe I should have saved a few bucks and done it myself... after watching him fight the back window for over and hour I was glad I let him do it...

Which "Piss on" sticker do I buy?

Worst part of the back window chrome trim was those stupid little corner pieces at the bottom. Those were god awful.

Re: Chrome window strip

Thanks again. I didnt think the glass shop would have the chrome strip is stock. My inspection and registration stickers expire in march so I will be replacing the window in a couple of weeks and then get new stickers.
