Pro-Touring Question
Let's say I wanted to build an awesome Pro-Touring either AD or Task Force. Where do I start looking at different frame configurations? All of the cantilevered suspension in the rear looks problematic. Would a newer Corvette Rear be a better alternative?

Re: Pro-Touring Question
There's a thousand ways to do a pro touring suspension. Not sure on your budget or skills? If you are set on the vette stuff there are still several options. You can buy a frame for a C4 suspension from Newman car creations or build it yourself like I did (my build thread is in my sig). If you want to go really fancy google the black 57 chevy pickup that Ironworks speed and custom built with a tube frame and C6 parts or the PT57 the Hot rod Jims built... frame designed with autocad, laser cut and tig welded, and C6 parts with a killer turbo LS motor.

Re: Pro-Touring Question
How about a c4 front and rear from either Flatout engineering or Progressive?

Re: Pro-Touring Question
I forgot to mention. There is a fellow in Coquitlam who has a C4 rear complete for sale. If memory serves me correctly I believe his asking price is about 1200.00 but I'm sure you can get it much cheaper if he comes to his senses.

Re: Pro-Touring Question
That would be a fair price if it's a dana 44 and has good gears. If it's the dana 36 from an automatic with 2.73 or 2.41 gears it about double what it's worth.

Re: Pro-Touring Question
Not a lot of info on the subject. I guess it is not too popular to do this with one of these trucks. I agree, the ironworks truck is over the top.
I have gone this way and have learned a lot as we moved along. It has caused us to re do a lot of stuff. Look at the end of my build. We have done the cantilever route, but did it a little differently. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=412449 |

Re: Pro-Touring Question
I've only seen it a hand full of times, but to me the best rear to use is Ford Expedition center section and outter uprights.
This with fabbed control arms and pickup points and simple coil overs. Its strong, light, and way more configurable than the vette. |
