Body off!
New guy here, Working with Poterbuilt on getting my dropmembers ordered. Was wondering how much time you guys have spent stripping your body off the frame.

Re: Body off!
We have built several of these trucks at my shop and it takes us about three or four hours to strip the body, but it also depends on how much rust you have and how careful you are while taking it apart. Some are so rusted out that there is not much holding them together anymore...Good luck! Your truck looks pretty nice!

Re: Body off!
Thanks for the quick reply! Wow 3 to 4 hour seems pretty fast. I guess the more times you do it the better you get. This truck has no rust but a very little amount on the front fenders I got real lucky.

Re: Body off!
Yeah, stripping them apart is quick and easy. Did my '68 in about a half day on my own. Putting it back together... well 2 years and counting. Be careful, it's a domino effect when you start pulling the body.

Re: Body off!
Using two people with average skills and using a lift, which helped ALOT, we took a body off one truck and put it on another in 3 hours start to finish. We cut the bed bolts since there was NO wood left, and took the cab and front clip off as a unit. We had good air tools, and I had sprayed the body bolts daily for about a week with PB Blaster.
Find a buddy with a lift, it will make it go much faster!
