I wouldn't go over a 4" BS on a 15 or 16 inch wheel.
Even with a 4" BS,... you will need to do some trimming on the lower control arms with drop spindles.
Look at 71-87 4x4 truck, burb, and blazers for stock steel wheels.
(also 4x4 burbs and blazers up to the 1991 model year)

Anything prior to 71 will not have the clearance needed for the disc brake calipers.

Re: 6 lug 4 1/2 " offset wheel source.. where?

thanks for reply kieth... so even with 71-87 wheel.. the spindle will need to be trimmed? is this all spindles ? pol cpp ece?

i am wondering now why brandon h at pol told me 4 1/2 back space ? although we did not discuss wheel diameter ! i of course am thinking stock diameter. i will have to call him tomorrow.
so are all the 71-87 's 8 inch wide ?
thanks
i will check out the yards around here.

Most stock steel wheels are 15x6.5.
There were some 15x8 (6-lug) wheels that came on the military blazers.
The 88-98 C1500 version trucks have the wrong backspacing in my opinion.

I've run up to a 5" BS on a set of 17x8 billet wheels up front.

Any 71-87 15x6 steel wheel from 4x4 blazers, burbs and trucks.
Not all of these were ralley wheels.
Some had hubcaps.
