Fresh air delete question

Ok I'm to the point I'm starting body work on my cab and I don't want the fresh air vents. I searched around to see if anyone has patched over the hole and deleted them but I may not be wording my search correctly. What is the best way to go about this.

Re: Fresh air delete question

Curious why you`re deleting them, I use them all the time. I even crack them open a little to blend with the A.C. if it gets to to cold.

Re: Fresh air delete question

Well I just figured I can crack a window just didn't see the point in leaving them since I spent an hour trying to clean the 40 years for crap out of them the other day when I got my cab ready to pull off the frame. I may leave them but don't think I will ever use them.

Re: Fresh air delete question

I searched the same thing myself a while back and had some trouble as well. With some digging I did manage to find examples of some people who have done it, usually when installing aftermarket AC as most units prevent the passenger side vent from opening. I elected to shave mine, but the truck is still just in the build stage.

To add to this: Vintage air supplies a vacuformed abs plastic cover that fits in the recess of the vent. With their under dash unit, the vent can't be opened so they supply the cover. I ordered a second one to fill the driver's side vent. It worked fine.

You know the crap did not get in through the fresh air vents but through the grate behind the hood (which supplies air for the heater/ A/C). The vents give you a place to easily get in to clean all that junk out.

Re: Fresh air delete question

To add to that, if you don't take care to put in a grill or something to stop stuff from getting in there, you will not have any way to get the stuff out that drops in there over the next 40 yewars.

Re: Fresh air delete question

I put a smoothed cowl panel and then the body shop put seam sealer around the vents sealing them in place before they painted
