No rot this is a Texas truck. The paint/body and crate motor are what has me considering this truck. A 4-5k truck is surely going to need paint and who knows about the motor. This thing should be good for another 80k+ miles.

Re: Pics of 86 I might buy

That is a clean truck. I have to admit, at that price it doesn't hurt my feelings that I have spent as much on my truck as I have lately. Now it's an "investment".

I think to buy one and get it to the point this one is you will be close to the 8k mark if not over it. I would buy one for 4-5k if I could find one in this condition but everything in that price range is no where as nice as this truck. I am still having a hard time pulling the trigger.

Re: Pics of 86 I might buy

I agree with that. I've spent a ton of $$ on mine in the last couple of months. I was starting to think I had a problem. I am at teh point that the money isn't as inportant as getting pretty much what I want. I have tried to piece it together on the cheap, and that just ends up getting redone. I'm slowly realizing that it's cheaper in the long run to just do what you want the first time.

Re: Pics of 86 I might buy

Make him a deal, if you pop that chrome cap off the front of the hood and it is not rusted, you'll pay the 8k. If it is rusted, you get it for 4k.

I'm right at 10k on my 87 I think, everything but the transmission has been done. I can actually see 8k on a truck like that if it is solid. How are the trans, rear end, front suspension, carpet, headliner etc? For 8k they need to be very nice, no fading/weathering and recent service/overhaul etc.

Sure you can't "build" one like that if you start with a junker, not for 8k. But you also have a very very very hard time selling them for what you have in them.

Same here in Arizona. If it's truly rust free and in the condition the pictures and specs show, 7-8k easy.

Re: Pics of 86 I might buy

The more I stare at those photos the more I like it, it sure does grow on you don't it? I'd have to swap that faded out carpet and get the seat recovered though. Fresh fabrics would really show the beauty on the interior.

Oh, and get rid of that rear bumper! I did notice the old wedge of paper in the vent. They must need to be taken out and made tight again.

8k is not bad at all, just make sure it's what you want because that's a chunk of change.
