5.3 cam help.

hey guys. coming over here from the 72 blazer part of the forum i added 5.3 to it and am looking into cams for it. im wanting a pretty good sounding lope.....but i cant fit long tube headers like i wanted too...only the stock manifolds. not wanting to get a stall on it that i have to hot rod it just to get it to move but what kind of cam size would be good sounding and what kind of springs to get??? thinking 112 lsa but idk if thats too much. sound pretty wicked but also considered the 114. idk. let me have it guys

Re: 5.3 cam help.

I'll be running this cam from COMP in my 5.3: 54-408-11
Search that part number in YouTube, and there are one or two videos with before/after comparisons of the sound. It has a little lope, but doesn't need headers, big stall, or crazy springs. However, it will put down massive torque with a truck intake. Check it out with CAM-Quest on COMP's website. It's like the perfect cam for a daily driver.

Re: 5.3 cam help.

112 lsa will probably give a bit more *lump* than your looking for, especially on a non-stall car, since the idle speed often gets turned up on high-lift and low lsa cars, it may not be suuuper friendly. I'd say pick up the used Z06 cam, because you probably will want more, and at least that way you spent way less than a new cam setup.

Re: 5.3 cam help.

I personally prefer to have custom girnds in my motors. Being stock exhaust manifold are going to be on it, I would do a custom that is a bit heavier on the exhuast than normal. I can put your combo in performance trends and come up with a custom for you.

yeah any info would be good! id love to do long tube headers but they wont fit. the pickup manifolds wouldn't even fit and had to get some off a camaro.
