engine powder coat???

Can an engine block and heads be powder coated? I guess I never heard of it done before but thought it would handle the heat better and be more long lasting than paint...........thoughts?

Re: engine powder coat???

I highly doubt it. It would be all over the place it possible. I think you have to stick to engine enamels mate.

Re: engine powder coat???

Yes you can.

You will get mixed reviews. Some say it holds heat in making the block run hotter. Others will say that it doesn't affect it enough to make a negative effect.

I personally don't know, but i have friends that have powdered engine components without any problems.

Re: engine powder coat???

If you want a tough as diamond finish. Use glyptol. Smokey yunick back in the day used inside exhaust ports and it held up fine

My powder coater just told me it gets done all the time......... yess it may run a bit hotter but nothing significant. He does his own engines with POR-15 however.

Thanks all !
I got those valve covers from Skip White Performance. Was going to coat those to, but decided against it.
