Re: What did you get done 4/29/12 edition

Finally took care of two nagging issues. 1) fixed the loose glove box lock mechanism using a paper clip to remove and then loctite before tightening back up.....tired of it flopping open everytime i go over the railroad tracks in town and 2) cleaned the stock radio power/speaker plug ins on the back of the radio...had to pull the ac plenum to get at it....no more radio cutting out/static when going over the same railroad tracks

It's the little things getting fix that make driving my truck just a little nicer

Re: What did you get done 4/29/12 edition

I got my exhaust welded on and also took her out for a drive for the first time. Def made all the hard work and money worth it. Also attempted to fix my brake problem. The brakes work but u have to pump at least once for them to kick in. I have replaced every piece in the brake system itself and still is doing it. I'm lost on what to do next. Will post video of trick with exhaust later this evening.

Installed a new water heater...in the attic. I hate whoever decided to put it up there when they built the house.

Installed drop spindles and reattached swaybar. Did a full service on the rear diff and transmission got new pan gasket, filter and rear seal. Then I fitted up my new fuel tank to see how it fit. Need to still fab some brackets tho.

Project Clean:

I promptly removed the first layer of fall/winter dirt, vacuumed out the interior and cleaned the glass somewhat. Many more layers to go I’m sure.

Re: What did you get done 4/29/12 edition

Caught a fuel leak late last weekend - turned out to be a rubber hose between fuel pump and high pressure filter was rubbing against wire harness in the frame rail! Re- routed the harness. New SAE 30R9 hose and new fuel filter took care of this potentially dangerous situation. Did not get a chance to drive it - too many other projects.

Re: What did you get done 4/29/12 edition

I went out early Sunday morning and acquired some spare parts for a raining day. I think I’m becoming a 73-87 parts hoarder!

Snagged a whole interior minus steering column and dash.

Re: What did you get done 4/29/12 edition

I got a shipment of parts in for the truck, gotta love summit, ordered on thursday and on my front porch Saturday afternoon(No Saturday delivery fee!!). I also went to the junkyard and got a set of springs so I can rebuild them and get rid of the chevy lean. Got a free hood to replace the one I junked, it is very straight and rust free. Got the passenger side exhaust tacked up and just need to finish weld it. All in all not a bad weekend.

Just a quick shot of the engine bay!!

Re: What did you get done 4/29/12 edition

I spent the weekend drilling out spot rivets and replacing the core support on my daily driver. Maybe after its over I'll clean the garage and pull the ole' chevy in for the teardown.

Re: What did you get done 4/29/12 edition

I broke my truck, the spent the day trying to fix it. I can now time a SBC. I also painted my front end chrome black to try and cover up the pitted and generally nasty chrome. Not sure I like it much though.

Re: What did you get done 4/29/12 edition

My truck stranded me a block from the house Saturday for the first time in the eleven years I have owned it. No spark. An acquaintance who was in the area towed me home with his '48 Ford F1!

I replaced the module in the HEI yesterday, but still no spark. I'll keep at it later in the week.
