This place...
Note: this started as a reply to a thread that was going on about the mods here and banning/infractions, ect. The thread got locked while I was typing this up, but these are some thought's I've had on my mind for a while and feel like putting this out there.
I'm almost afraid to say this because I don't want to get banned (again) but this place has the most hypersensitive moderators I've ever encountered. Pruning threads, infractions, bans; general power tripping. This place is a model for the everyone gets a trophy, you can be anything you want to be, the only thing that matters is that you tried; coddling, nannystate that the country is becoming. Sometimes you gotta call a spade a spade; and that doesn't go over well here. There are a lot of great people here and a wealth of knowledge. I don't bring a lot to the table, but I'm pretty entertaining; if nothing else. I think it sucks that I'll prolly be banned for this or telling some dude who puts his front axle in with plumbing strap that he's a danger to himself and others while everyone else it patting him on the back because he did it all by himself. |

Re: This place...
Hey Stew,...
I think most are making this out to be more than it is. The answer to the missing thread is here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=522757 Most don't have any idea of the BS that goes on behind the scene. This is one of the best (if not THE best) truck forums on the internet. Some members never venture outside of one or two areas here. There is a wealth of knowledge and info about this site,... if people would just look around a little. Thanks for your comments,... but the "Site Feedback and Announcments" area is the place for this thread. With over 80,000+ plus members,... there is a bunch of work involved , by our Admins,... to keep this place running smoothly.

Re: This place...
Honestly, I can only agree with half of what you said. I agree the mods can be a little power trippy and that this IS a place where everyone gets a trophy (don't get me started on politics) but honestly instead of "Calling a spade a spade" just don't say anything at all. Something may look like crap in real life but are you going to walk up to someone and say their truck doesn't look good? Probably not. Same should be said about here. There have been many things on here that I didn't like at all, but I'm not going to go around saying anything unless the owner wants truthful answers (usually these posts come with a poll with a "no me gusta" option). This leaves those that like the truck to comment hence no negativity.
Although everyone has a right to their opinion I think that the general mood on here is "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all". Which I think everyone's mothers have said at one time.

Re: This place...
All the posts about concerns with how this site is being run have been moved to our site feedback area.. please check them out there.. i know of at least three there which all can see ..
I would suggest that you PM Josh and or Liz regarding your concerns as they have the final say in these matters..

Re: This place...
Your post is fairly innacurate. If there is a safety issue, people mention it. I can't think of one time that someone has been banned for pointing out a safety issue on a truck. I can think of plenty of times people have been banned for making inconsiderate comments about how a truck was finished/modified/restored. The great thing about this hobby is that the truck is yours, and you can do what you want to it. If that means a spoiler on the roof, so be it. I wouldn't do it, but I am not going to tell you that I think you're an idiot because you did it.
I think the problem is that you are used to forums where everyone is a jackass. I am a member of many forums, and most of the others are full of jackasses, which is really too bad. This forum kicks butt big time, because people here have a good head on their shoulders. I highly doubt you will be banned for posting your thoughts. I do encourage you to take a step back and look at it from the site owners' view. The board can't be everything to everyone, it isn't "entertaining" enough for you, but there are probably some things here you do like. I am sure there are a lot of forums out there that aren't perfect for everyone.

Re: This place...
stew i feel your pain man, my signature statement got chopped, not really sure why as others on here have the same one. Its dangerous to be right when the few with ALL the power are wrong. You can judge someones character and integrity by their use or abuse of power.but none of this really matters cause you will not win. This is a great site, not because of the administrators or moderators, but the people on here. i find it best to bite your tongue and enjoy what you can from this site........and believe me, im no conformist....im anti-everything..
just chill man...

Re: This place...
again? really? I love the full moon.
PM anytime you feel there is an issue. What this post will accomplish, not sure at all.. Please message and lets chat. jcampbell.. some may had gotten twitchy over that, but at this point, 3 threads later, its just the truth and flat out funny. Issue is, I don't recall battling you. So I think you and I may need to chat some more? I thought it was quite clear, but guess not? Message me when you get bored and have a second and bring me up to speed on this "battle with the powers that be", cause apparently I missed it Antigov, I kinda like your sig the way it is now.. humorous yet reminds others of the rules. Rock on my friend, down with the man! |

Re: This place...
Wow troll much? Jeez, I bust ass here to have a friendly environment for all to enjoy without all the assholes of the rest of the web and this is the thanks we get? Ya really think we go out of our way to power trip? nah, I actually work my hardest to be fair and balanced, however when you wanna talk junk and troll and undermine everything we have worked hard to build in this community don't expect to be here long. If you guys knew half of the BS we have to deal with and the personal attacks and implied threads and other crap just for making sure you guys have a place to talk without junk most of you would run away from the job. Try putting yourself in all sides of the world before ya make judgement on us for our actions to keep the peace here.

Re: This place...
In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

IMHO this place is a great model of how it should be done. Civility is eroding in our culture all around us, and is cancerous. Expecting responsible, civil adult behavior to be a member here may be a stretch for some, but those who have that maturity and grace shouldn't have to endure the never-ending drivel from those who don't. Another thing that I like here is the lack of profanity that is rampant on many other forums. There are several forums that I really wish followed your example, because they have quality input, but because of the foul language I will not subscribe. Language is like data... garbage in, garbage out. I truly believe that some people cannot be happy unless they are pissin and moaning about something, and of course everyone else has to hear it or somehow their right to free speech has been violated by The Man! I have no use for such people. This is a nice place, don't change a thing. DesertCat Afghanistan

Re: This place...
I can't say I haven't had my bouts with a couple of the mods, but they're just doing what they think is right. In this case who ever banned Steve had no choice. He was asking for it and that guy deserved what he got. That radio thread is completely BS. Why ask if you don't want see other's ideas? He's been "real nice" since he joined. Good choice admins.
