bench seat

is there any way to modify a stock bench seat (in my 1984 for this example) so that it can bend/pivot forward...From the factory they seem to be fixed in an upright position...I would like to use the little bit of space behind the seat for my back pack and other things but the only way i can get behind the seat is to remove the 4 bench seat bolts. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: bench seat

The bench seat in a regular cab is supposed to fold forward. The front bench seats in a crew cab or suburban did not fold forward. Perhaps yours was swapped sometime in its life? The 84 should fold though, for sure. Some of the 70's trucks they did not fold up.

Re: bench seat

if you take the piece of upholstery that comes off of the backrest and hooks to the bottom at the seat belt loose from the seat, there are two bolts, just take out the rear bolt then it will fold. you have to do both sides.
