Oil leak at slip collar
I have an oil leak at the slip collar on my MSD distributor . I can see it coming from the split were the allen set screw is . The depth is correct and i have replaced the gasket . Anybody ever run into this or have any suggestions ? This is a small block chevy .

Re: Oil leak at slip collar
Google is my friend . Looks like a common problem and silicone needs to be added .

Re: Oil leak at slip collar
Yup with those the solution is just a little black rtv the first time in the hole. Seems to fill the small gap for a good while.

Re: Oil leak at slip collar
Tell me if this sounds correct on the slip collar setting .
Set collar @ .043 gap from intake minus half the gasket which was .062 =.031 depth =.012 . Spec is .010-.030 . .043 gap -.031 ( approx for gasket crush ) .012 depth

Re: Oil leak at slip collar
What I do,, is set the distributor in and seat the collar against the intake with no gasket. Then with the gasket added you have around 0.010-0.020. Has worked for me in everything I've used them in.

Re: Oil leak at slip collar
Thanks , again sorry instructions . I found that formula under Chevelle forums . Just wanting to be sure . Tearing up the cam gear would suck .
