And you will find this is one of the friendliest places around. Using the violin smilie makes you look as if you were annoyed at the help. Im sure you meant it at yourself; but just saying how it looks.

One thing I will say is the site owner HATES the reply of use search. Not that it's wrong, but it makes folks feel like they can't ask a question.

Feel free to ask all you want, and don't take folks replies the wrong way. You will find there is a good bunch of people around here who are willing to take the time to help you find the answer you need.

Also has some decent info and mentions dash caps which are a cheaper solution: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=503375

Re: Dash pad repair?

John - Not sure if this was already posted, but you may want to give this thread a look. IMO, dash pads are cheap and plentiful enough that it's more trouble than it's worth trying to repair them. But that's just my take on it.

Re: Dash pad repair?

I redone mine but I removed all the original covering and fiberglased over the steel frame. Done it all and painted it to match the truck for 50$. http://s1070.photobucket.com/albums/u493/krwright0313/

Re: Dash pad repair?

IF you go with one of those plastic caps i have two pieces of advice.. make sure its glued down well... mine has popped off and in the heat it raises up in the center and also do not make any cuts on the thing until you determine exactly where your chrome strip sits... the guy who did mine messed up and theres a little section it falls short luckilly it is only where the passenger door closes

Re: Dash pad repair?

I am about to remove my plastic dash cap and put it in the trash. Mine makes my dash oversize and rubs against the door panels, and no matter how well it is glued down it still does not lay down flat. In fact, the manufacturer recommends just spot gluing it with silicone so that it will puff up and not get wavy in the heat. These plastic caps are one of the classic bad ideas in aftermarket products.
