Going to local yard to get a new steering wheel - what should I look for??
From what I can tell the following fit and look good in our trucks:
early 90s Chevy cavalier early 90s Burb Early 90s Lumina There's a ton of GM vehicles over there - what should I set my sights on first if I go? I want a smaller diameter, thicker to hold wheel, straight bolt on. Horn has to swap over easy too. This is going in an 86 GMC. Last edited by lbrowne; 05-30-2012 at 04:07 PM. |

Four spokes from the T400 body 88-94 CK Pickup Trucks & 93-94 Suburban and Tahoe. They were available in leather with Chevy or GMC center caps.
95+ had big ugly airbag wheels even without the airbag.

I have put at least 4 or 5 wheels on my 2 80's,86,87 &. 85 all from the 88-94 GM trucks. They look and fit great, horn works too.got one that's leather wrapped, but I can't remember what truck it came from, but it wasn't a burb or blazer.

I like the 70s camaro wheels, similar to the 88-94 trucks but without the foam covering. Some of the sport model 80s and early 90s buicks had decent looking wheels too, most of them leather wrapped.

Yup, all the above. I don't remember the size off hand. You can loosen the nut and rock the wheel to get it off, keep the nut on or you will hit your face lol. The wheel is off of an 88-94ish full size or suburban.

Oh, a small flat blade driver to twist out the horn contact retainer from the column.

Also, don't I have to get something to do with the horn harness or along those lines? |

I'd bring a puller in case. The wire for this type of wheel is part of the horn button. There isn't anything else to swap or rewire.
