Windows and window felts
I have two window questions, I just bought a complete window felt kit from LMC for my 63. I have no felt on the division bar but it appears to have a chrome trim does the new trim insert into the chrome channel or does the chrome channel need to be removed. Question # 2 how is the window glass held into the regulator it appears that mine is held in with a black RTV type of silicone and I need to hold it in place is this the right stuff Thanks Jeff

On my 65 I just pushed the new felt into the chrome trim.Dont know if its the "correct" way to do it but it works fine on my truck.

Re: Windows and window felts
Thanks for the reply Chainsaw I did the same thing but the glass seems to be hanging up and not going all the way up to the closed position I'm wondering if there is to much friction because of the chrome channel

Re: Windows and window felts
empire63nh...did you replace the window fuzzies? Some of the repop window fuzzies wont allow the windows to go all the way up.

Re: Windows and window felts
I replaced the window runner on the opposite side of the division bar and also what they call the anti- rattle bars I think that's what you are referring to as window fuzzies

Re: Windows and window felts
yeah...I hear tham called lots of things...especially when they dont go in right. The anti-rattle bars or window fuzzies are probably whats keeping the window from going all the way up. Who did you order them from?

Re: Windows and window felts
My passenger window wont close all the way,the bottom window channel hits the fuzzies. The drivers side goes up all the way. By fuzzies I mean the pieces on the door where you rest your elbow with the window down.

Re: Windows and window felts
I had the same problem, but used my fingers and pulled out on the outside fuzzies and the window went on up. I let it set like that a couple days. After sitting it didn't do it anymore when rolled up. Hope that's all it is.

Re: Windows and window felts
Same problem here, drivers side fuzzies won't let the window go all the way up.

Re: Windows and window felts
Thanks for the reply's I have only done the drivers side so far I'll try to let it sit and see if that helps, but the bigger problem is the window is out of the regulator channel and I need to re-install it I'm going to try the black RTV silicone to see if that will work, it looks liken what the PO used or maybe from factory I'm not sure. Anybody have any suggestions

Re: Windows and window felts
Quote:
The glass came from the factory with "glass tape" holding the channel to the glass. We usually stop the glass tape an inch short on each end and apply a couple small dabs of urethane adhesive to make sure it doesn't come out later on. I know we are able to get good quality Precision brand inner/outer wipes for 64-66 at my dad's shop, not sure about 60-63 though. Also check where the clips are mounted on the wipes; if they're mounted too high it causes the wipe to be mounted low in the window opening, and the bottom glass channel will bottom out sooner. Those clips can be tough to get fully snapped in place too, make sure they're all fully seated.

Re: Windows and window felts
Thanks I'm going to use a clear weld epoxy to hold the glass in the channel and I'll check on how the wipes are mounted, I learned a valuable lesson, don't stick you arm in the round door hole past your elbow, blood is not a very good lubricant!!

Re: Windows and window felts
I'm about to do both my window channels - do the clips from 64-66 work on 60-63? Does anyone make replacement clips?
I bought a kit from LMC last year and was totally underwhelmed. Other makers? |

Re: Windows and window felts
got mine from classic and never put the passenger side on ,I was very discouraged with the drivers side. don't know if 63 and 64 are the same I doubt it because 63 has the window post going backwards so the length would be different

I need to find the clips that hold the channel in, IDK if they are the same.

Re: Windows and window felts
I thought I got mine from classic but after rereading the post I got them from LMC ,the clips were different from the stock ones I think that's part of the problem they didn't fit very well into the door .I'm not sure about whether the clips are the same for 63 and 64 but I would assume from LMC they are the same

Re: Windows and window felts
The window fuzzy thing seems to be a common issue wherever you get them. I'm going to buy another set and try to modify them. I'm going to try to bend the lower part in and shave off the fuzzy part with a razor blade to make room for the glass holder thinggy.

Re: Windows and window felts
Every set of these fizzles I have put in do the same thing to the windows but on mine I took a set of tin snips and at the back of the channel it hangs over in the felt a lil bit I cut off about an 1/8 inch off and no more hanging rolls all the way up
