Stupid question alert...
Are the Oil Pan Gaskets reusable on the 5.3's or any LS's for that matter?
Got my FBody Oil pan in today and just trying to save myself $50 if I could.

Re: Stupid question alert...
Technically, if the rubber in the metal gasket isn't worn or compressed flat I suppose it could be resusable......that said.....50$ ain't much when you talk a hobby car. If you were to buy a new oil pan, it would include a gasket...to me that says the General would like you to replace it.

Re: Stupid question alert...
It's a used FBody pan, so it just came with the windage tray and the pickup tube.
I'm just cheap

Re: Stupid question alert...
To be honest, I can't even get the old gasket off without bending it real bad.
So, that just answered the question.

Re: Stupid question alert...
They're rivited to the pan. I've reused them before without problems.

Re: Stupid question alert...
Yes, just drill the head of the rivit off, no need to drill all of it out. Don't need them when putting it back together. You do need to put a small dab of silicone on the corners where the front and rear covers meet the block.

Re: Stupid question alert...
After closer inspection, the gasket is torn and bent on the back driver's side corner.
I'm in luck though, when I pulled the FBody pan out of the box it had a gasket on it already and it was perfect.

Re: Stupid question alert...
Believe it or not, the cheapest I found most gaskets was from GM I ordered all of mine through a local dealership, as well as alot of the bolts and hardware I needed.
