Yet another header questions for my 71
I've been searching and looking at post about headers for hours now. I've looked so much I've confused myself.
I have a 71 C10 with a 350 5.7 motor with a 350 turbo transmission that was manual but now has a shift kit installed. I'm bagging the front of my truck and need to know which shorty header will work with my truck without having to modify anything. I need part numbers of headers that have worked for you guys straight out the box and don't interfear with anything else on the truck. I'm planning on running my exhaust pipe outside the frame just above the frame bottom. Any help would be appreciated. I need to order my headers ASAP so I can finish my exhaust system. Thanks |

Re: Yet another header questions for my 71
I have been using the Sanderson Shorty headers since December. My truck has 350/th400 and lays frame...pic in my signature.
Get them from Summit for under $300 Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Yet another header questions for my 71
PS - do yourself a favor and get the following, shorty headers especially need this:
-header spark plugs (they have a shorter base/top, but are made for performance and they sell them by application, i.e. 350ci engine -get a spark plug wire loom that will route the wires away from the tubes on the headers, and keep the boots stationary...trust me, it will save you $$$ in the long run in buying wires every month Advance Auto sells the plugs, Summit has a great loom that bolts to valve covers. I went a step further and got the braided spark plug wires....doing great so far. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Yet another header questions for my 71
The fit was great. However it was a little close to the motor mount on the drivers side for some reason. I'm not sure why cause it wasn't close on the pass side. Probably was how my engine was mounted.

Re: Yet another header questions for my 71
hedman headers #69010. Shorties made specifically for these trucks. Mine fit great. Jegs has them for around $200. Then use NGK UR5 plugs. short enough to clear, not expensive like header plugs, and last a LOT longer.
