Any tips on installing TF deluxe cab trim?
Not ready yet but thought I'd start asking. How do I install stainless deluxe cab trim on cab and doors. I know there are clips involved but how do they work? Any special tools?

Re: Any tips on installing TF deluxe cab trim?
I was going to ask this same question. I bought a set of that trim that I will be installing at some point in the future. It came with wire clips that will require a lot of holes to be drilled in the doors and cab. The wire clips won't seal the holes and I'm wondering what others have done to keep water from leaking past the clips. The trim didn't come with any installation suggestions.

Re: Any tips on installing TF deluxe cab trim?
lots of holes around the door glass and the back of the cab.
i know because my cab had them and i welded each and every hole closed to shave it. lots more water will leak past the window felt than will go into the holes, i wouldn't worry about that. photobucket is down or i would find a picture of the hole layout on my cab and doors.

That would be great, I replaced my doors and they don't have holes. I need something to go by to drill new holes

Hope this helps you. This is the stock hole location. I'll be welding them closed. sorry about the pic. I just snapped it for you and there wasn't much space in my storage room.

Re: Any tips on installing TF deluxe cab trim?
So nobody here has installed this trim? I see trucks here that have been painted and have this trim. I'm sure it was reinstalled after paint, who did it? Trim shop? Paint shop? I have to get this installed, my truck needs all the chrome it can get. Lol
I removed mine while tearing down the truck and I'm sure it's easier to remove than install. I tried to put a clip back in and couldnt get it closed enough to fit thru the hole.there has to be a trick or method to get these clips in Posted via Mobile Device |

One thing, if you are going to run the trim drill the holes before you paint the truck. In fact drill every new hole you need before painting the truck as the little bits of metal love to burn into new paint and stay there.

Are the holes centered in the groove or closer to the top? Any measurements?

Re: Any tips on installing TF deluxe cab trim?
Okay I thought I would reply.
I did this when my truck was in primer. Yes I have done this on my truck. I had the factory assembly manual which has the drawings and dimensions. This helped with the starting points, the center points and the number of holes as well as hole drill size. For distance between holes: I used the drawings to set the starting holes, center holes and ending holes. The rest I just layed out and made them evenly spaced. Making sure the number of holes matched what the book said I should have. I used a good sharp dark pencil to mark the hole centerlines. To center the holes in the reveal: The holes are centered in the reveal area. I had a junk piece of trim that I cut a 1" section off and punched a hole in the middle of. I used this as a centering templete. At each hole location I used the punch hole to place my pencil mark. To finalize and use a punch set: I visually checked the location of each hole for center. Walk away and come back another day with a fresh start and recheck. Drill. Be vary carefull about the measurement for the lower cab trim piece for the last holes near the door jam. Do not get to close the jam. There is a seam and interior piece of metal that will create problems when you try to push in the clip. Hope this helps. My cab originally had the holes, it's the doors that I bought from a guy that didn't have the holes.

Re: Any tips on installing TF deluxe cab trim?
The assembly manual has the door drawings for the trim holes. The doors are fairly straight forward since the hole are all on the same plane (not going around corners like on the cab).
