Thumbs down Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

Do I need to say anything? This is one month time on these. At first they didnt fit and I had to weld extensions so they can reach. Now when I pull my ten bolt i find these warping and walking around.

I would hate to see what would have happened if i had made it to the track with some sticky tires. Needless to say. The whole kit I got from them is junk. Shock extensions are to wide. The u bolt threads gall way to damn easy even when slathered in anti seize and still on top of it all nothing fits right

Please nobody buy this junk!

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

Aftermath would be me going after djm hardcore. Im posting this on every truck site in the web. This crap should not be sold or advertized in anyway. Going to straighten these. Rebar reinforce and case harden them and send them back and tell them to "revise" thier design

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

I always use belltech or western chassis on my stuff, my 3/4 has belltech flip rear and drop spindles and springs front for a 5/7. My dads 96 tahoe has belltech flip rear and drop spindles front for a 3/5. he has used that same set up on all his trucks and it rides great and they are high quality

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

I had similar problems with the DJM kit I ordered for my truck, brackets were too short.
I sent it back to store were I bought it , I had just struggled with the Adco sway bars I put on and didnīt have the time or patience to deal with it. If I make another attempt to lower the truck I will probably make my own brakets.
You are lucky that the old 10-bolt gave in before something worse happend.

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

For the money. A leaf perch is better and stronger than the speghetti bracket djm gives you and thier poor excuse of u bolts and shock hangars.

Im sure part of the prob is my trans chirps the tires when going through gears. Even then BOTH sides bent Which means its not just the shifting. Im going to call djm again and see what they have to say.

Im betting you they are going to say these brackets are not good for any racing and no good for higher power engines

I bet they are going to say that you should not have welded on them as well

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

hmm you have me worried.

my truck has had a DJM flip kit on the rear for like 8 or so years as well as all DJM front lowering kit 4/6.

though my truck rides like a caddy with it all and ive never had a problem, i think i might take a look tomorrow. eep!

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

The problem with the weld on perch,... is that, they don't relocate the rearend back approximately 1" like the flip kits do.
This helps center the rear wheels in the wheel opening and keeps the driveshaft from bottoming out after the rearend in flipped on top of the leaf springs.
They also correct the pinion angle.

I've used Belltech flip kits on 73-87 trucks forever,... without any issues.
Western Chassis makes a very nice product also.

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

Welded on perches and factory spring plates can be drilled for a second hole to move the rear end back. You can drill the old perch to install some fine tuning bolts to fine the pinion angle too. I used a cheap trailer axle perch to do this one but a new real perch is in the works. If you will also notice the Ubolts should be 9/16". Several aftermarket lowering kits have 1/2" Ubolts. Back in the late 70s and 80s the metal was just starting to get poor. Now it's terrible. The metal used was likely not hardened steel.

Keep in mind your Ubolts need to be torqued evenly simular to a cylinder head.

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

I have a DJM flip also. I noticed the U bracket was short and didnt fit right. I couldnt return them so I got another pair of BellTech brackets and used them. I saw how many people were using DJM stuff and figured alot of people must be installing them and not realizing how bad they fit. They are now in my scap pile of extra metal.
