Drive shaft
I just got the frame for my s10 swap (S15 actually). It's a 1990 with the 2 piece drive shaft. Will I be able to use this with a sbc and th350. Can I shorten the front section of the shaft to make it work, or will I need to remove the cross member with the carrier bearing, find a one piece shaft, and have that cut to fit?

As long as you keep the u-joints parallel within 2 degrees and any radical angles you will be fine.

those trucks had a vibration issue with stock shaft i would spend a little extra and make it a one peice shaft

IMO you have less vibration with a two-piece due to the carrier bearing.

I'm running a 1 piece shaft and life is good. I took out the carrier bearing crossmember and all. Sbc and a 700r4.

1 piece/two piece = personal choice.
The thing with changing to a one piece is what will it take to make it clear the crossmember and any other things that get in the way? The two piece you just shorten the front half to fit and done. Use quality U joints and have the drive shaft shop balance the whole unit. |

Keep it real. Once you remove the crossmember holding the carrier bearing there is nothing else in the way because the drive shaft takes the same path. If you are using a V-8 the additional hp is hard on a carrier bearing. With a 1 piece drive shaft you have 2 u-joints operating at longer angle which is easier on u-joints.
