Re: show me your v8 mods

It's a tight fit, but can be done.
I used this cross member from classic parts,

I had to offset the engine a little, and I'm using 305 manifolds on mine.

Hell it isnt that tight. I have a pontiac 400 in mine{wider and longerthat the SBC}. and there are lots of big block chevys around.
Just get the engine as far back as you can. Useing the frame you have you wont have the usual problem of the ad framed trucks.

Do you have any pics?
Are you using the stock steering box?

Thanks

I guess you also spaced out the steering box? how is the track width? I have heard its too wide but I have steelies on my truck right now and there is a ton of space between them and the fenders. I have a free 83,4,or 5 C10 coming my way and I am going to be putting the suspension on my 50 so I have alot of questions.

Thanks for any help,
chris

the box is spaced out 1", the track width is 1" wider each side, i am using 5" back spacing on front wheels . some people have the saddle cut in half then remove 1" and weld it back together.

Re: show me your v8 mods

Midgets50, Take a look at my build thread, we did a 52 with a big block. I am not quite finished yet but I have some progress pictures. We used the March front drive setup and that made it pretty tight, I think if we had gone with more of a stock pulley drive setup it might have fit better. I had to reposition the motor a couple of times because of changes but I got it. I can't remember where we got the mounts but the were a universal mount that I welded to the front boxing plates. Good luck and if you have any questions let me know.

Bernie
