My 78 K20 to K30 build thread

Hey guys names Sean from Long Island NY thought I'd start a thread on my 78 k20 build. I picked up from the original owner in south jersey with 350,XXX + miles on her engine and trans were replaced only have about 50,XXX on them. I was looking for a while for a square that wasn't all hacked up or to rotted. I had a few squares before this one 87R10,86 3/4 suburban,86k5,89k5. Plan was when I bought it 2 years ago to make it into a trail truck. That changed now that you can't off road really anywhere on long island this build is going to be a clean never garaged weekend truck. I know you guys like pictures so here they come.

I started the rust repair it didn't look that bad until I started digging into it. This was my first rust repair on a square. Those are NOS 1-tons 4.56's locker out back. Also my kelsey hayes 16.5x9.75's my favorite wheels. Its going to have a 6'' lift to clear those 37's.

More pic by the way anyone who's doing any rocker repairs should invest in a spot welder. I picked this harbor freight 220 one when I was 15 now im 25 this thing has done two MGB's and now my truck works awesome for the $160 it was was well worth it I try and spot weld everything I could get it into so it looks factory.

Re: My 78 K20 to K30 build thread

Excellent detail pics! Im excited and terified to start rust repair on my stuff. But detail shots like that make it a lot easier to plan ahead. Im assuming all that white looking paint is weld through primer? Where did you get your replacement panels and what do you think of them?

Re: My 78 K20 to K30 build thread

Thanks y5 if you need any more detailed ones for your truck build let me know ill try and find them. Yup thats eastwoods weld thru primer seems to work well drys fast. For the parts I got most of them from top banana. I also got some from LMC and Summit usually they all have a key parts sticker on them and all will require a lot of work and cursing lol to get to fit.

Re: My 78 K20 to K30 build thread

what my 79 camaro looked like before I sold the engine. Now that car will sit in the garage until my truck is finished. One day it will live again with a carbed LS engine.
