Thinking about trading my lwb for this.
I have already found a couple things wrong with this add like the year, but called the owner and im suppose to go look at it he states that the truck is missing the front grille and bumper but had the interior redone and a small block 400 put in i forgot to ask what tranny it was. Really wanting to know what you guys think. Im not the owner admins just trying to get other board members opinions.

Re: Thinking about trading my lwb for this.
Personally if it was me I'd keep the truck because yours looks to be a lot straighter. But if you like it go for it.

Could have done a front end swap and actually be an 85....but like Cars said, yours looks straighter.

I'm with everyone else in on the forum I would stick with your looks like it's in better condition, but again choice is yours.

Re: Thinking about trading my lwb for this.
I think youll come out on the short end of the stick on this deal. I think youll be better off to sell yours and go find a SWB to buy. His looks like an 800$ Truck to me since it looks pretty beat. Sure parts are easy to find for squares, but i think you could find a better start.

Re: Thinking about trading my lwb for this.
The CL truck owner says its an 85, Im a little sceptical. 81 and up have plastic master cylinders, this one is cast. 81 and up have left side single tanks,73-80 have right side single tanks, this one has right side.
This one has the 73-80 dash pad and 81-87 door panels. If there were more pics in some key areas we could tell for sure. If it is truely an 85, it is realy been pieced together from lots of "random parts". Your truck is way nicer and complete with the year correct parts on it. Not a good trade IMO.

Re: Thinking about trading my lwb for this.
Thats an 1980 front clip, its hard to see in the pic but its definately a 73-80 frame. Note the frame horns. Either he typoed the add with 85 or some shenanegins are going on.

Re: Thinking about trading my lwb for this.
I think if you look at the interior shot real close it looks like it has the older dash in it. Not the 81-87.

Re: Thinking about trading my lwb for this.
Imho shortbeds are overrated, I have one and wish I had bought a reg bed. Keep your truck at least until a decent trade comes along.

Re: Thinking about trading my lwb for this.
yours is nicer looking and your truck is a longbed which means better for work... I dont see any reason to trade.. in this genre of truck youre always going to be doing repairs that looks like it needs alot more repairs than yours at least on the body

Re: Thinking about trading my lwb for this.
If you take equally nice trucks, one with a long bed and one with a short, the short bed will bring double what the long bed will. Sad but true, even though you're getting MORE truck with the long bed! Long beds can't pull off the same look that short beds can, but they can look good in their own way.
I wouldn't trade your truck for any of these short beds though. Your truck seems to be straight, rust free, and mostly unmolested. Heck you've even got billet aluminum wheels. Don't trade it straight up for a basket case short bed. If you must have a short bed, sell your truck for cash and go find a short bed you like.
