Stumped, need help with my 84 blazer
Hello, I have myself a basket case thats got me scratching my head.
The p.o. Sold me an 84 military blazer body on a similar year civilian chassis. He basically took the best stuff from both vehicles & sold me the leftovers. The motor is a 6.2 diesel, im having wiring issues right now and dont know what I'm missing. I was given a harness that goes with the chassis but theres wiring coming through the firewall that doesn't connect to anything. If anyone has pics of a civilian diesel engine bay & a military engine bay that would probably help alot. I may be over thinking this but here is a list of my problem areas. -cable from the trans, don't know where or how it hooks up -heater hose, can only find a place for one (top front of motor), where does the other one go -glow plug wiring, this might be redundant. The wires run through the firewall to a control box. Is this military only? The truck is being wired for civilian only -how do I know if the body is on a 24v setup? Everything needs to be 12v -want to run a single battery on the passenger side, is that possible with the diesel? 700cca - any pics of how all the positive & negative cables big & small connect to the battery. Am I missing a distribution block or something? -ignition & starting wiring is still a bit unclear. There are two negative leads down by the starter how/where do they connect? Still not sure which wire is ignition. Those are the big concerns, ive researched military pdf's, bought a chiltons manual & tried searching the net but I'm coming up short. Thx in advance for any help. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Stumped, need help with my 84 blazer
Update, I'm having a real struggle with the glow plug wiring. Here's a few pics. The first pic shows what i believe to be the wiring to the glow plug control box. Where and how do these leads hook up?
Posted via Mobile Device Here's a pic of where I thought the glow plug wiring was supposed to be. Any buddy know what's missing? Here's a pic of some random wiring, I really have no clue what that green connector goes to Here's a green connector that I don't know what it's for Here's the glow plug control box I believe I did buy a glow plug selenoid that looks real similar to a ford starter selenoid. I have no clue how to wire it in because so far I can't figure out which wire(s) supply power to the glow plugs. Post pics if you can so i can compare, thx! Re: Stumped, need help with my 84 blazer
More wiring questions/concerns. I believe the larger plug is for diagnostic testing but what about the smaller one right next to it?
Posted via Mobile Device Here is the old alarm wiring. I believe the p.o. Hacked into the ignition wiring and bypassed the neutral safety switch. I have no idea how to get the nss working properly. Any suggestions would be a big help Honestly if no one here can help me out please send me a link to a forum that might, or whoever knows how these trucks are wired. Thank you Last edited by Durrr; 11-20-2012 at 06:32 PM. |

Re: Stumped, need help with my 84 blazer
I've got one of these trucks but do not know how to put one back together like that. I just haven't had much trouble out of it. One starter and a pair of batteries is it. I know I can figure it out as I need to but there hasn't been any need yet. You can get the service PDFs at steelsoldiers.com and there's a bunch of 6.2 diesel fans at thedieselplace.com. There's some 6.2 knowledge here but not concentrated like at those two spots.

Some of those wires look like a alarm setup and not factory.
I posted some things to check in your thread over at dieselplace
