powers steering pressure/return

Hello,
I found one post on the site stating the pressure hose from the pump goes to the port closet to the frame and the return is closer to the tire.

Can anyone confirm this? I have an 89 suburban 4wd. I just put a new gear box on and swore I had the lines correct, I had power steering and it was quiet, but after a very short road test it blew the seal out of my steering pump. Not just a drip, but pouring out.

The new box felt more stiff/heavy than the old box. Just thought it was because it was new. Could the new box not be allowing pressure bypass???

Thank you,
Chris

Re: powers steering pressure/return

Found my answer, I feel a little foolish. Although both line use a 18 mm wrench the threads are smaller on the return. It can not be installed backwards.
