Re: big block

In a 2007 eBay listing, the seller of the 1976 GMC Jimmy Casa Grande serial #0854 stated his rig came with a factory-installed 454, and he repeated that in a couple of emails I had with him back then when I mentioned the brochures for Chalets & Casa Grandes only show 350s or 400s as being available.

I have no way of confirming what the seller said it since I can't track down the rig now, so he might have misidentified it, or it was installed after it came out of the factory, or was some kind of special order that doesn't really count as a 'regular' factory option. It would be entertaining to get to the bottom of that one....

Re: big block

Maybe someone managed to finagle the factory to install a big block on some super-special COPO deal, but the answer is,no,K/5s were not offered with big blocks

Re: big block

i had a friend in high school that had a pre-80 K5 with a 454. it was his grandfather's, looked like a pretty clean install if it wasn't factory. not saying it was, just that it was a good job, and pulled trailers like a champ.
