After market fuel pump in a stock tank?
I was wondering if it is possible to use a walbro fuel pump (or another aftermarket) in a stock 67-72 behind the seat fuel tank? I am using an inline external pump at the moment, but would rather an in tank. And this would be less expensive than the under bed full cell route too. Any pics, opinions, and info is appreciated. Thanks

Re: After market fuel pump in a stock tank?
I have put a Rock Valley Fuel pump & tray in a 67-72 truck tank, Used a new tank for obvious reasons, Cut the passenger side upper corner out, Cut the tray top to fit, Made a flat patch panel for the side.....Then Tinned & Silver soldered it, A TIG weld would be a better look (I cant TIG weld).
You Can hear the pump in the cab!!!! Even after I Dynomated it. http://www.rockvalleyantiqueautopart...o_and_kits.pdf Heres kinda what I did.... |

Do you ever have reason to come to dfw? I have the poly tank that was in my truck before I got the Boyd under Bed tank. I have both straps too, yours to come pick it up. It worked well with an external pump an EFI.

Its been a while since there, but my wife's aunt lives in HEB (hurst) area. Is the poly tank the "blazer" under bed tank? If so, is the fuel outlet on the bottom of tank or out of top pick up tube? If its out the top, did you ever have any problem with starving the pump?

Hey clinebarger, that's a clever idea. That sounds like some engineering I'd do. How loud was it inside? What did the kit with the pump cost? Thanks for the responses. :-)

Re: After market fuel pump in a stock tank?
It is the poly tank like Summit sells, I put a filler on it like a regular tank. It was just an idea if you wanted to save you some money, I never had it starve for fuel but I also don't auto rose either. I'll get you a picture if you like, ain't pretty but it ain't rusted either. The filler comes out the top

Re: After market fuel pump in a stock tank?
Just thinking out loud here. I just don't see the desire to run any high pressure fuel inside the cab. Just doesn't seem safe at all to me. I am sorry, I would never consider it.

Yes, if could post a picture that would be great. And "thinking" out loud is always helpful to me, thank you for your input. I appreciate ALL input.

On certain cars....There is NO choice, '53-'62 C1 Corvette & late 30's Chevy cars is a good example...No where to put the tank but right behind you.
