Newer truck bench in my -83 GMC ?
Would be nice to know if an 88-98 truck bench fit easy in my
GMC C1500 1983. The bench in my -92 is much more comfortable.

Re: Newer truck bench in my -83 GMC ?
I am doing this on my 81 3/4 ton. Got the bench seat out off a 89 1500. The seat track on the 88 and newer is taller since the floor is flat on these, so if you try to install it in the 87 and older the seat is about and 1" below the steering wheel. I took the tracks off my 81 bench and was able to line up the rear bolt hole to the rear hole on the newer bench seat. The front part of the track is going to have to have a hole drilled in it and the front of the newer seat is to. Also a spacer is going to be used in the front to space the seat up a little higher and th seat track needs to be trimed at the fron as it sticks out past the seat. I haven't done the stuff to bolt the front part of the seat to the tracks yet. The seat is bolted to the floor of the truck though. I would say it's not and easy fit but with some work it can be done.

Re: Newer truck bench in my -83 GMC ?
I put one in my truck. Unbolt the pedestal from under the late model seat. Then lay the early model seat tracks under the new seat and set them to the proper width that they were under the original seat. Mark the seat where the brackets are and drill 5/16 holes. The rear bolts on the track will fall perfectly on the late model seat, but the front of the track will need a stack of washers or a spacer between the seat frame and the older seat brackets. It took me about an hour to do. No sweat.
