Re: Muncie 319 wiring?

I have a 3 speed with OD I am working on. mine has two solenoids, one on each side of the tail shaft with two wires to each, both are wired to a plunger style switch that sits behind the carb linkage, and acts as a kickdown switch at full throttle disengaging the OD. The cable inside the cab actually engages and disengages the OD.hope that makes sense

Re: Muncie 319 wiring?

Look at the wiring diagram it explains it the fowardmost solenoid has a plunger that engages and disengages the overdrive when the cable is in automatic postition the shift out of overdrive it triggered by pushing the throttle to the point it contacts the kick down switch of the governed on the back sees the transmission is below 28 mph in which the transmission will free wheel and you will not be able to use the engine as a brake but will be able to shift gears without using the clutch
