Wiring Connectors?
I'm installing the new radio in my truck my wife gave me for Christmas.
So I've installed a lot of radios/connected a lot of wires over the years using the twist and tape method, plastic compression connectors, etc. I would like this to look a little better than my typical "get it done fast" job. So, I thought I'd throw this out. What is the best and most professional way to connect the wires to the speakers/truck? Any suggestions on connectors? Thanks, Scott

Re: Wiring Connectors?
I always use Butt Splice Connectors, Spade Terminals, Ring Terminals Connectors, Male/Female Bullet Connectors, and Heat Shrink Tubing.

Re: Wiring Connectors?
I use inline butt connectors and heat shrink. You can use the non-insulated connectors when using heat shrink and the use wire loom to tie it all up.
![]() Get a good set of lineman pliers if you don't have a set.

Re: Wiring Connectors?
If you want the absolute best connection, solder and shrink tube with the sealant inside. The next best would be the non-insulated connectors and shrink tube that jimmydean mentioned. You can also get the insulated crimp on connectors that have the heat shrink type insulation with the sealant.

Re: Wiring Connectors?
Thanks for the suggestions! I went with insulated butt connectors. I will one day put a new wiring harness in the truck and when I do I'm going to do the solder and shrink tube for the connections.
The radio has bluetooth music streaming/handsfree phone and an HD tuner. It's going to be interesting to see if the callers can hear me over the roar of the truck. ![]() Truck is sounding good inside and out!
