Firefinder24's '65 K10 Build

Hello all, I introduced myself over on the other board so I figured I would start this thread as I venture down the road with my new "toy." The story of the truck can be found here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=562978 but here is a quick pic of the truck

The rebuild is going to start a bit slow, I just bought this property (foreclosure) and am starting a significant remodel, which should be done by mid summer. After that, it's all forward on the project. The best part about the property is it came with a 1200 sq' shop:

So today I went down to start looking the truck over, see how bad the cancer is and what kind of history I could pull from the truck. Boy am I glad I did that! Behind the seat in the wires I found this:

Yes that is the build sheet from GM. So I pulled it out and started to piece it together and came up with this:

Kind of interesting, it shows a schedule date of 04-08-65, but some of the codes show it from a 66. The engine code is a TF, which I found says it is for a 1966 C10-20-30 "250"-6 Cyl. with H.D. Clutch and 4-Speed Trans (which it has).

I pulled off the codes from the sheet and here is what I was able to decipher (if I wrote an underline and left it blank, it was illegible. If it is underlined and I wrote something in it, that is my best guess). Not in the picture was the following information: SCHEDULE NO. - 13 04-08-65; MODEL - K1404 and COLOR - 5S_ (bummer - will try to get this figured out).

Knowing the history of the truck like I already do, this was a grand slam for me. Finding this just solidified that I will be keeping this stock as it rolled off the showroom floor.

I look forward to hearing from all of you, getting your advice, following your builds, improving my non-existent fab skills and finding excuses to buy all sorts of tools for this project (yes BendPak and Millermatic, here I come) . Be prepared for stupid questions (sorry, there IS such a thing as a stupid question), delays in updates - and hopefully one hell of a ride!

Oh and for the heck of it, I did a compression test on it to see where the cylinders were at both dry and wet. Here is what I came up with:

Nice truck thanks for sharing.

What part of the coast? I'm originally from Fresno and spent a lot of time in SLO and Monterey counties.

WINNER WINNER!!!!!! SLO it is! Love this area with the weather and Pismo Beach. Gotta love being able to take your rides down to the beach and cruising them in the dunes and right down to the ocean!
