Trailing arm mounts?

Anyone know where to find them? Im switching a 1980 axle into my truck, and Im wondering if any parts stores would carry them or if I have to order from cpp.

I want to say $50 + $20.... but I could be wrong, as they usually come in there 73-87 trailing arm kit. Give Dave a call over there @ 480-297-2621, and he will get you all setup. That is the only place I know that has them, not to say there couldn't be others though.

I did find them on the cpp website, but I would like to look at my options. If anyone was wondering they are $39 from cpp.

You could always carefully cut them off of your existing axle....

The trailing arm mounts are angled on the axle, where as the leaf springs mounts are straight.

I have both axles, but I think once I cut it off it would be wrecked.

Oh... then what project 67 sub mentioned might work. I have never done it, but it seems like it might be an option if you were to carefully do it. Guess it depends on what you use to cut them off also.

And you don't have to deal with CPP. Read the review board. We should rename it the 'CPP complaint board".

I went to order them from ECE, but the shipping quote was $100 with some sway bar mounts too. On that note, how would you guys suggest cutting the old ones off?

I would see how a small air grinder would fit, maybe try differant cutting wheels. Slowly cut the welds, not the axle and not the mount. Actually, I would get my angle grinder, because I'm fairly accurate with it, grind the welds thin, then knock'em off with a welding hammer.

Thats what I was thinking. Just hope the original welds didnt have very good penetration. Im pretty good with an angle grinder too. Actually its the only cutting tool I use.

Can't you roll the carrier and axles out of the doner truck into the older axles and put in new races while you have it apart?

I wish. This one is 1.5" wider, and is 5 lug. Im keeping the gears from the old axle though.

Man, you got to call them or something. I've ordered a bunch of full 4/6 drop kits from them (spindles, four shocks, four coil springs, track bar, shock mounts) and the shipping for all of that was only 50 bucks for all of it and that was several boxes totaling probably 100 pounds. I can't imagine 100 dollars shipping for a pair of saddles and sway bar mounts.

EDIT: I just looked and realized you're from Canuckistan. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree with my shipping info.

Is there a reason the truck arm housing needs to be kept in tact after removal of the mounts on this particular rear end? If not, cut the mounts off the rear housing completely (cut the housing apart & remove the areas the pads sit on). Then, slowly grind, cut, trim the housing material away from the pads.

If one has a plasma cutter.... one doesn't need the recommendation to use it typically . I'm betting he doesn't have one @ his disposal.

Not sure what you can get for a truck arm 12-bolt w/o the pads. Call ECE or Porterbuilt & speak to someone & confirm prices/shipping.

true lol. but he could take it somewhere that has one and get them to cut them off, it may be cheaper and quicker than buying and having a new set shipped

I called ECE. 39 bucks for the pads, 26 for shipping, and 10 for brokerage and taxes. So 75 total. Seems like a lot for two little pieces of steel. I will still contact nate, but I dont imagine pricing will be much different.
