Longest Distance
So now that you have your LS engines in and running just fine what is the longest trip you have made with it? I ask because once my 64 is done I want to feel secure about driving it to Cali and back with zero issues. I wont need a "tune" because I'm going carbs on a dual quad which will be built for the motor and dyno'd.

Re: Longest Distance
I drove mine from Fort Worth to Abilene and back(320miles). no issues other than I wish I would have put sound deadener in the cab! ran at 70+mph. Ive had the LS in since 2010 and I currently have about 4500 miles on it. I also have the 4speed and recent 3.73 gears in back.
Ill be taking another trip in the spring there

Re: Longest Distance
I haven't drinen my swap trucks very far, but I do have over a collective 200,000 miles on all my swap vehicles. My '33 Ford with an LS1 has been form New York New York to LA California, and as far south as Louisiana and north as Toronto ON. Its got 67k on it. My nova has 120k on the swap. It has been as far south as Key West FLand everywhere in between. Just add A/C and cruise control and you're good to go long distances. I do have to say though, you're not taking advantage of one of the best parts of these engines, the EFI, it makes them so much nicer to drive. No hard starting, altitude doesn't affect them, can't say that about a carb.
And just because everybody likes pics, although these are not my trucks, they drive home a point, if you take your time and don't cut corners, swaps can be just as reliable as a new car. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Longest Distance
I'm nearly at sea level out here and the only time I would be a little off would be the quick trip thru the mountains to get somewhere. My ElCo is a barely streetable combo that with two pumps its fired right up every single time, winter or summer. If the carbs are dialed in for my combo it should just start every time like the ElCo does.

Re: Longest Distance
In 2011 I had finished my swap and within 48hrs took my truck on a 9 hour one way trip from Milwaukee down to Southern KY, around Tenessee, back putting on about 2000 miles in 4 days, no problems. The next summer after finishing all the body work, took it on another 2k on a similar trip, along with a summer of driving around. I have no problems taking my truck 9-11 hours in a day without much fear (just a lot of gas)
