Solid rear window install
Quick question, is it easier to install the gasket in the cab then put the window in or is it easier to install the gasket on the glass then install it in the cab? 1977 C10

Re: Solid rear window install
I always put the rubber on the glass then pull it in with a string and a molding tool. Assuming there is no headache rack or something blocking easy access, I can usually push from the outside while I lean inside the cab and pull it in, and do it without help. Don't be afraid to lube the rubber generously (GoJo hand soap) and whack the hell out of it with the heel of your hand to seat it into place if needed. It's tempered glass and you're not gonna break it.

Re: Solid rear window install
ive done windsheilds both gasket on cab adn gasket on glass. didnt make much difference. gasket on cab might have been easier. i have only taken a rear window out, it was kind of a pain

Re: Solid rear window install
Looking at doing this right now. My local glass shop wants $200 for the job. Should I just replace it myself? Is it really all that hard to do?

Re: Solid rear window install
I did one years ago on a S-10 and it was pretty easy. I have not tackled it on my c-10 yet. It was a pita to get the slider out. Had to cut the gasket and rip it out.

Re: Solid rear window install
Is the gasket a "locking style" or just the gasket? Locking style works best on the cab first. It is going to suck no matter which way you do it.
