Re: Cragar Delux...any pictures of them on a AD?

Those sure look like the same rims they used to use with the fake wire wheels in the mid 80's when my dad had them on his Olds and I ended up with them on my 51 Merc with and then without the baskets.
Not a good photo of them though.

Re: Cragar Delux...any pictures of them on a AD?

Been on for almost three years now, but the truck is still unfinished although the bed is now done. I painted them 1966 GM marina blue from some leftover paint I had laying around, and added bullet lug nuts and "shannon cones" and of course the Diamondback tires. I originally purchased some expensive spider caps, but didn't like the fit. The engine block is the same color and the interior will have blue/grey/black/white.

I bought them through Summit, which ended up being a little frustrating because they upcharged quite a bit for "custom backspacing". Operating on a hunch, I called Cragar and literally in two phone transfers I was talking with the guy in the plant, who is taking orders and making the wheels. He says, nope I'm looking at a stack of cores right here...every wheel is custom! I tried to explain this to Summit, but apparently custom backspacing is anything not listed on the website, go figure so I had to pay up. Anyhow, I like them because they're simple, cheap and round. The round part is important because a majority of the original wheels are actually out of round, damaged, and getting much harder to find. I caught alot of crap over on the HAMB about these, I could care less because they work for me! Did I mention made in the USA?

Oh yeah, I plan on having a few white pinstripes added similar to the original wheels.

I remember your thread on the hamb. It seems the " traditional police" over there were butt hurt because they didn't fit a model A.
They look good

Seeing your wheels on your build it what put them on my radar. Looks great. simple clean and perfect for what I am looking for.

Best of all.....USA made, and cheap. $57 each from Summit or Jegs.

HAMB is a weird place at times......I frequent, but keep to myself most of the time. Touchy group.

Hey those are my wheels, haha.... Yeah man I love my wheels. Can't beat the price either. They were $59 a piece in a 15x8. I got the bullet caps for $42 I think off eBay and the bullets lugs were $30 something.

I'm scheming on painting them though in a charcoal grey color before they get tires. I absolutely love leevons wheels with that blue on em

Re: Cragar Delux...any pictures of them on a AD?

The blue really makes them look good Leevon. I never thought about taking the old wire basket wheels and having them striped of the chrome and painting them a nice color. I think the rims I had went away with a car I had years ago when I got rid of it.

I'm still wondering if someone in the Crager warehouse didn't find a few old centers and go "what if we"? and started turning out a whole new product.

Coach,

Great choice!! I really like the look, kind of a "less is more" feeling. And you don't see alot of them.

What color is your dash/interior metal?? Did you clean it as nice as the outside??
What about that color for the wheels & maybe a pinstripe?? Whatever color you choose, I think it will be cool as hell!! I really like your truck and what you've done to it.

LEEVON, great looking ride!! And a nice choice for the wheels. Can't imagine someone giving you any "crap" with that truck. You got that thing looking killer!!

Thanks.

The interior cleaned up great.....and is the original Chapagne color. Time has faded it to a more silver color. I cleaned it all up with simple green and a scotchbrite pad.

I was thinking a pinstripe the same color as the belt line. Bone, or yellowish would look good and tie it all together.

Probably pull the pin on the front rims tonight....I am going to wait on rear rims until I find a rear end in case I need to alter the offset.

Tires were ordered today!!

Hey Leevon, can you give me more info on custom backspacing? I could not find any info on the Cragar website. I am curious what is possible.

Re: Cragar Delux...any pictures of them on a AD?

Anything I guess, mine were just 15x7 with even backspacing (3.5"). As long as you go through a vendor that will place your order, then choose what you need. It just wasn't a standard size on Summit's website.
