Suburban tailgate removal

My Dad is looking at removing and replacing the tailgate on his '74. Can someone give us some info on dealing with the tension bar/spring? It looks like everything else on the tailgate just unbolts and unplugs, but if there's more to it please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Suburban tailgate removal

There should be 4 bolts on both end of the tailgate. On a blazer if you unbolt them then the springs will just pull out of the bottom of they tailgate
